Floyd County
Protecting homes and businesses from the devastating effects of flooding has been a key focal point for Rogers. He has secured essential infrastructure funds for flood control projects in the town of Martin, Prestonsburg and beyond, enabling businesses in Floyd County to grow and families can feel safe in their homes. He also successfully fought for FEMA to cover nearly all of the eligible costs from the May 2009 floods that overwhelmed local communities and resources.
Bringing tourism to the region is another important way to boost economic development and create jobs. That is why Rogers secured funding for the Mountain Arts Center and Stone Crest recreational area in Prestonsburg which have been tremendous assets for the local community. Families are now able to come and enjoy the tradition of country music.
The Highlands Regional Medical Center has recently expanded to offer an autism center to meet the demands around the region As a supporter of the Appalachian Regional Commission, Rogers helped to ensure that Highlands Regional Medical Center was able to obtain funding from ARC so that this state of the art facility would be available and meet the needs of families in the area.
