Protecting homes and businesses from the devastating effect of flooding has been a key focal point for Rogers. He has secured essential infrastructure funds for flood control projects around Troublesome Creek and beyond so that businesses in Knott County can continue to grow and families can feel safe in their homes.
For years southern and eastern Kentucky has been plagued by straight pipes, inadequate septic systems and contaminated drinking water. Sensing the need, Rogers secured funding for Carr Creek Lake in Knott County which ensures a reliable, clean water supply, utilizes vital water treatment programs and enhances economic development through tourism. All of these efforts are not only good for the environment; they help develop the local economy and are essential for bringing clean drinking water to Knott.
The epidemic of drug abuse has affected nearly every individual, community and family in southern and eastern Kentucky. Recognizing the difficult challenges that exist, Rogers has championed the fight against illegal drugs. Through Operation UNITE, the Knott Drug Abuse Council received federal funding to strengthen important drug prevention efforts throughout the community.
