Leslie County
Protecting homes and businesses from the devastating effect of flooding has been a key focal point for Rogers. He has secured essential infrastructure funds for flood control projects so that businesses in Leslie County can continue to promote economic development and families can feel safe in their homes.
In an effort to protect the environment, preserve Leslie County’s natural treasures and help to bring tourism to the region, Rogers secured funding for land acquisition in the Daniel Boone National Forest. Rogers also was successful in securing transportation funds to make safety improvements and remove impediments along the Parkway.
Finding ways to develop the local economy is important to southern and eastern Kentucky. Working with community leaders, Rogers was instrumental in securing funds for a new parking garage and transit facility in downtown Hyden to help local businesses meet their daily needs. He has also been a key supporter of the Bluegrass School of Music which offers a wide variety of classes for those interested in expanding their educational opportunities.
