Press Releases

WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Rep. Harold "Hal" Rogers (KY-05) released the following statement after deadly flash flooding swept across southeastern Kentucky beginning July 26, 2022.

"Our mountain region was hit hard with deadly flash flooding overnight. As waters recede and we survey the damage in our communities, I stand ready to assist in any way possible. My staff and I have been in contact with state and local leaders throughout the day to communicate needs in each of our counties.

"In the midst of devastating storms like this, our first responders face daunting search and rescue efforts. I deeply appreciate the heroic work of our Kentucky National Guard and our first responders who have been responding across county lines to help move our folks to safe ground. Please join me in prayer for everyone impacted by this storm, especially those who have lost loved ones and those who continue to search for the missing.

"As Dean of the Kentucky Congressional Delegation, I led a joint letter in support of Governor Beshear's prompt request to President Biden today for a major disaster declaration, which would implement a comprehensive federal response. We will diligently work in the weeks ahead to ensure federal help is swift and thorough upon the hopeful declaration."
