WASHINGTON, DC -- Washington Democrats voted to raise the nation's debt limit by $2.5 trillion to cover their irresponsible spending spree this year. U.S. Rep. Harold "Hal" Rogers (KY-05) voted against the legislation which will likely lead the nation to again reach the debt limit in 2023.

"My liberal colleagues are relentless in their pursuit to make the United States more indebted to China every day," said Congressman Rogers, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. "With Democrats in control of the White House, Senate and House of Representatives, we've experienced one crisis after another, including skyrocketing inflation, mass supply chain interruptions, record numbers of illegal immigrants flooding across the southern border, and historic spending. Washington Democrats are bypassing checks and balances at every turn, and increasing the debt limit without addressing spending is another step in the wrong direction. Taxpayers need fiscally responsible leaders on Capitol Hill, not a higher borrowing capacity."

The debt limit increase passed just as Washington Democrats are on the brink of adding a multi-trillion-dollar reconciliation bill without any regard for the nation's deficit or debt.
