WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Harold “Hal” Rogers (KY-05) voted for the Continuing Appropriations Act of 2027 (H.R. 9770), extending federal funding and government operations through December 4, 2026. 

The House Appropriations Committee passed all 12 federal funding bills for fiscal year 2027, sending them on to the full House of Representatives, where three of those bills have also been passed by the House. It is the Committee’s fastest completion of the bills since fiscal year 2020.

“This extension simply gives us more time to work with the Senate on federal funding bills ahead of the end of the fiscal year on September 30. We are removing the fear of another looming federal shutdown with the assurance that we have more time, if necessary, to work with the Senate to get these comprehensive funding bills finalized,” said Congressman Rogers, Chairman Emeritus of the House Appropriations Committee. “It ensures all critical programs will continue uninterrupted, including SNAP and WIC benefits, disaster relief, flood insurance, and the like, through December 4, 2026.” 

The Congressional Budget Office estimated that the 43-day government shutdown in 2025 cost between $7 billion and $14 billion in lost real Gross Domestic Product.

Supporting this legislation keeps the government open, protects national security and essential services, and preserves the path to completing full-year FY27 appropriations before the end of the year. 

The Continuing Appropriations Act passed the House and now moves to the Senate for consideration.
