WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Harold “Hal” Rogers (KY-05) voted in support of President Trump’s military action in Iran. Six days after President Trump took decisive action to disarm Iran’s deadly terrorist regime through Operation Epic Fury, the House of Representatives voted down a measure on Thursday to withhold President Trump from taking critical military action without congressional approval. 

“America doesn’t need further proof that Iran’s evil regime, led by the late Ayatollah Khomeini, was the reigning sponsor of terrorism in the Middle East with unwavering nuclear ambitions. They never minced words in shouting ‘Death to America,’ while ramping up their ballistic arsenal and threatening our military bases, our allies in the region, and executing 30,000 of their own civilians. I trust the President and our Joint Chiefs to take action when and where it is necessary,” said Congressman Rogers, Dean of the House. “We can’t afford to delay military action that protects our homeland and our allies.” 

Congressman Rogers also voted to end the Democrat-led shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The federal funding bill to reopen DHS passed again in the House, but has stalled in the Senate. 

“Despite the current war in Iran and heightened military tensions, Democrats voted again to keep the Department of Homeland Security shutdown. It is time to put political agendas aside and protect our homeland at all costs,” said Congressman Rogers, a cardinal member of the House Appropriations Committee. “DHS not only encompasses security measures across the country and our Coast Guard, it also funds our vital FEMA Disaster Relief efforts, air traffic controllers, immigration enforcement efforts, border patrol, and much more. Thankfully, the One Big Beautiful Bill is providing some relief for our servicemembers and federal law enforcement, but we need DHS to be fully functional.”
