Supports Defense Industrial Base in Southern and Eastern Kentucky

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Harold “Hal” Rogers (KY-05) applauds committee passage of the Defense Appropriations Bill for 2027, marking the 12th and final federal funding bill reported out of committee for the next fiscal year. The bill provides more than $1 trillion to enhance America’s military advantage, bolster counter-drug programs, modernize our military fleet and munitions, and strengthen support for military service members and their families. The bill prioritizes funding for American manufacturing and innovation for the Department of Defense.

“Providing for the defense of the homeland we love, is the best way to show our patriotism on our 250th anniversary. This bill provides a 29% increase in Defense funding to advance President Trump’s America First Agenda, with our dominant military serving as a cornerstone of our continued freedom,” said Congressman Rogers, Chairman Emeritus of the House Appropriations Committee. “I’m specifically proud of the work taking place in Southern and Eastern Kentucky that supports our military defense operations, including next-generation camouflage, secure communications technologies and space monitoring. We are sending critical supplies to our American war heroes on the frontlines and I am honored to continue supporting those jobs in our region in this bill.”

The bill also provides funding to dismantle transnational drug trafficking, including $305 million for the National Guard Counter-Drug program.

The Defense bill now advances on to the House for consideration.
