WASHINGTON, DC -- U.S. Rep. Harold "Hal" Rogers (KY-05) released the following statement after the House passed the "Bipartisan Safer Communities Act" (S.2938), which passed the U.S. Senate on Thursday. Congressman Rogers voted against the bill.
“This bill provides incentives for new red flag laws in our states, allowing a firearm to be removed from some gun owners without due process. It weakens the Second Amendment, adding unwarranted intrusions on the rights of law-abiding citizens. While there are other portions of this bill that are worthy of support, it does not do enough to protect the Constitutional rights of the American people.”
