The Center for Rural Development in Somerset is building a new Regional Workforce Training Center, focused on meeting growing workforce demands in our region with training for aerospace technology, advanced manufacturing, industrial maintenance, electronics certifications and more. The new training center is expected to be open by September 2027. Learn More >>> In Wayne County, I returned to my alma mater, the former Wayne County High School, to break ground on the renovation of the AJ Lloyd Building, which will become a new outdoor community center and farmer's market. I was proud to secure $4 million in Community Project Funding for the project. Another building on site will also be refurbished to become the new home of Provalus, a growing technology company that now has 140 employees in Monticello. Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Shane Wilson during the LET 2.0 Event In recent years, tornadoes, flooding and dangerous emergency calls have magnified the need for our local police departments to upgrade their communications equipment. To help cover the cost of new radios and other equipment, I secured $20 million in Community Project Funding to fast-track upgraded communications for our police departments in Southern and Eastern Kentucky. As the administrator of the Law Enforcement Training (LET) 2.0 program, the Center for Rural Development hosted an informational session last week for police departments across the region to learn how they can apply for the equipment. Learn more >> FLOOD CONTROL IN EASTERN KENTUCKYAfter another round of flash floods hit Letcher County and other parts of Eastern Kentucky in August, I invited the new Commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Louisville District, Col. John Moran to meet with local leaders about flood control and debris removal from our streams. We must protect our people, first and foremost. During the meeting, we discussed safe options to restore our streams back to their natural state, federal and state funding, and coordination between the federal, state and local levels. We appreciate Col. Moran for his innovative feedback and focus on flood control. Learn more >>> I also had the opportunity to celebrate the lifetime achievements of one of the greatest jurists of our time, my good friend, the Honorable Eugene E. Siler, Jr. We officially dedicated the "Eugene E. Siler, Jr. United States Courthouse Annex" in London, Kentucky on August 18, 2026. In recognition of this great milestone, I presented Judge Siler with a Congressional Record.
