Including $2 Million for New Northern McCreary Firehouse 

WHITLEY CITY, KY – U.S. Rep. Harold “Hal” Rogers (KY-05) joined Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers and State Rep. Ken Upchurch at the McCreary County Courthouse on Tuesday to deliver federal and state funds for local projects in McCreary County. 

Congressman Rogers presented a federal check for $2 million in Community Project Funding to McCreary County Judge Executive Jimmie “Bevo” Greene and Fire Chief Tim Perry for construction of the new Northern McCreary County Firehouse. 

“I’m proud to support our first responders who stand on the front lines of this community every single day, especially our volunteer firefighters who provide wide-spread emergency services across the most rural parts of our counties,” said Congressman Rogers, a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. “The funding for the Northern McCreary County Firehouse was signed into law by President Trump in February, and I’m proud to deliver the check to Judge Greene and Chief Perry today.”

“We are grateful to Congressman Rogers for this funding for the new fire station for the Northern McCreary Fire Department,” said Judge Greene. “All of the projects mentioned today are very important to this county and we should never lose sight of how important our federal and state partners are to us. We are forever grateful for the investments in Stearns and our infrastructure throughout the county.” 

Sen. Stivers and Rep. Upchurch delivered three state checks totaling $6.3 million for the following projects: 

• $3 million for the McCreary County Heritage Founding in support of the Stearns Revitalization Project;
• $2 million for the McCreary County Fiscal Court’s Cumberland Falls Water and Sewer Project; and 
• $1.3 million for construction of an access road at McCreary Central High School.

“We’re here with Congressman Rogers who has been a leader and key federal partner for us, helping us prioritize state funding for local projects,” said Sen. Stivers. “State Rep. Ken Upchurch and I are delivering funds that will continue the impressive revitalization in Stearns, strengthen the water and sewer infrastructure for the Cumberland Falls State Park, and build a new access road for the high school that connects to US 27. The collaboration and communication between Judge Greene, the school board and the Heritage Foundation have been essential, and we’re proud to secure the funding to get these projects underway.”
