Statement: Congressman Rogers Supports Proposed State Legislation Prohibiting Sanctuary Cities
Jul 12 2019
FRANKFORT, Ky - U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers (KY-05) released the following statement in support of proposed state legislation announced today by Governor Matt Bevin prohibiting sanctuary cities. The bill, sponsored by State Rep. John Blanton and State Sen. Danny Carroll, requires local and state law enforcement agencies to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers when assistance is requested.
“We’ve witnessed the dangerous impact of sanctuary city policies across the country, where released criminal aliens continued to commit unthinkable assaults on innocent Americans, including children. Undermining federal immigration policies puts law enforcement officers and our communities at greater risk," said Congressman Rogers. "These laws are designed to keep our cities safe, and I applaud Governor Bevin for choosing to protect Kentuckians first and support federal law enforcement as they pursue justice for criminal aliens.”
