WASHINGTON, DC - Emergency relief funding to address the humanitarian crisis at the southern border is finally on its way to the President's desk for signature after both the House and Senate approved bipartisan legislation that the President requested nearly two months ago. Congressman Hal Rogers voted for the $4.59 billion Senate-amended Emergency Supplemental Appropriations Act for Humanitarian Assistance and Security at the Southern Border (H.R. 3401), which finally passed the House despite previous attempts by Democrats to block the much-needed aid. 

"This is a victory for national security at our southern border, and for meeting the needs of the skyrocketing number of migrants illegally flooding into our country. This crisis not only demands our attention, but meaningful action, and I'm proud to support this emergency funding," said Congressman Rogers.

The legislation includes:

• $145 million for national security military operations supporting missions along the border;
• $1.1 billion for Customs and Border Protection to establish migrant care and processing facilities, along with medical care;
• $2.8 billion for Health and Human Services to provide safe shelter for migrant children; 
• $209 million for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to conduct anti-human trafficking operations and related costs; and
• $220 million for the Department of Justice to help process immigration cases.
