SKED

The Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corporation (SKED) is a nonprofit economic development organization formed in 1986 to create employment opportunities in a 42-county service area in Southeast Kentucky. It accomplishes its mission by recruiting new businesses to the region, providing direct loans and technical assistance to small businesses, and by providing economic development services to local cities and counties.

SKED loan funds range in size from a $500 micro-loan fund, to a $500,000 small business loan, up to a $5.5 million SBA 504 loan. SKED is a certified SBA 504 Lender serving the entire Commonwealth. As an SBA Certified Development Company, SKED can package long-term, fixed-rate financing for major fixed assets, such as land and buildings for manufacturing projects up to $5.5 million.

SKED has made more than $38 million in low-interest loans to some 180 businesses and created or retained 4,500 jobs across Southeast Kentucky.
